Both studied design at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and Silke Wawro is teaching on different art and design academies and universities. Robin Gadde is also a carpenter and all projects and products are realized in own production.
Gadde&Wawro are working on various design fields. Main focus of their work is the exploration of the relationship between people and product. Their work on own initiative is mainly based in the field of public and social design. All projects and products are exploring the meaning of consuming and offer creative options for a sustainable consuming in peoples’ daily life.
Gadde&Wawro developed for well known companies and brands design strategies and presentation concepts and also here, the use of existing materials and products is the main focus of their design. They design products, furniture, interior, exhibition and concept spaces.
Their ideas grow by an open and critical view onto ordinary daily life rules and mostly it results into a question about the function and necessity of design. Why do you like your old coffee cup with a broken handles, you don’t throw it away and buy a new one?
The work of Gadde&Wawro offers new perspectives for a relationship of people and product in a permanent changing environment.
